Yemen’s Ansurullah Militias Down Saudi Tornado Jet

Yemeni militiamen from the Ansurullah Coalition have reportedly downed a European made Tornado attack jet flying under the Royal Saudi Air Force - the latest of multiple reported downings of high end combat jets by the embattled militants. Saudi Arabia’s armed forces have confirmed the loss of the aircraft, which Yemen’s Al Masirah television network, citing an unnamed source in missile defense units, reported was neutralised over the northern province of Jawf. The spokesman for  coalition Brigadier General Yahya Saree further revealed that the jet had been shot down with a surface to air missile. Ansurullah missile attacks have threatened targets deep in Saudi territory in the past including major cities and oil refineries, with S-75 surface to air missile systems modified to serve as ballistic missiles among other munitions used. This has led Saudi defence partners including the United States and France to deploy special forces to Yemen, the former specifically tasked with neutralising Ansurullah missile sites.
