U.S. Reinforces Control Over Syrian Oil with New Armour From Bases in Iraq

The United States Army has reportedly deployed additional personnel and armour to protect Syrian oil producing facilities, with an armoured convoy of approximately two dozen vehicles crossing into the country from neighbouring Iraq where the U.S. maintains a much larger military presence. The deployment comes following an affirmation by President Donald Trump that the United States intends to maintain control of major Syrian oil facilities, and will commandeer the revenues from production to fund Western sponsored anti-government militias which have attempted to place the country under their control. American control over the oil facilities, although illegal under international law, appears set to continue indefinitely. The area controlled is approximately 40 kilometres between the Syria’s Qahtaniyah region and the Rimelan district of Al-Hasakah city, and the U.S. military has begun construction of two military bases to fortify its presence in the oil rich area. American assets on the ground will retain support of a vast regional military apparatus, including B-52H heavy bombers and F-22 Raptor air superiority fighters based in the Gulf and cruise missile armed Arleigh Burke Class destroyers at sea - all of which can be called on to carry out air and missile strikes to support personnel in Syria should they come under threat.
