Number of American Casualties from Iranian Missile Strike Rises to 109 - Pentagon

On February 10th the Pentagon issued a new statement regarding the consequences of an Iranian missile strike on American military facilities in Iraq - stating that the number of American casualties had risen to 109 personnel. The attack was carried out on January 8th by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, in retaliation for the assassination of the corps’ Quds Force Commander Qasem Soleimani on Iraqi soil on January 3rd under direct orders from Washington. The number of reported casualties from the attack has steadily risen, from under 30 to over 60 and now to over 100 - leading to considerable speculation that the extent of the damage and the true number of Americans killed and wounded could be being concealed. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps have meanwhile claimed that American reports of brain injuries suffered by its soldiers referred to dead soldiers rather than injuries - citing the unusual terminology - and was being used to hide the true extent of losses suffered. While much remains uncertain regarding the strike and its consequences, one notable result was that the precision demonstrated by Iranian missiles, none of which missed their targets, has highlighted the vulnerability of America's overseas military facilities.
